Laravel Skills: A Community Directory for AI Agent Skills

LaravelPHPQuick BytesAI

Laravel has launched Laravel Skills, an open community directory of reusable AI agent skills built for Laravel and PHP developers. Skills can be browsed at skills.laravel.cloud and installed into your AI coding environment with a single command:

npx skills add <owner/repo>

The directory is designed to work with Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, GitHub Copilot, and similar tools. Rather than describing your stack from scratch every time you start a new conversation with an AI agent, you load a skill that already encodes how to work correctly within a Laravel project.

What Skills Cover

The current directory includes skills across several areas: Laravel architecture guidelines, Eloquent query optimisation, modern PHP patterns, testing workflows, API design practices, and frontend integrations. Because it is community-powered, developers can contribute their own skills and share patterns built from real project experience.

The concept maps well onto how experienced developers already think about context. When you bring a new colleague into a codebase, you spend time explaining conventions, preferred patterns, and things to avoid. A skill does the same thing for an AI agent, and because it is a shareable file rather than an in-chat explanation, that knowledge is reusable and consistent across sessions.

Worth Knowing

This is a logical extension of how the Laravel ecosystem has been moving. Laravel Cloud, Filament Blueprint, and now Laravel Skills all reflect a sustained effort to make AI-assisted Laravel development less friction-heavy in practice. If you are already using AI coding tools in your Laravel projects, the directory is worth browsing to see whether any existing skills fit your workflow, and if you have built strong conventions on a project, contributing them back is straightforward.
